If you use English as a foreign language at work, want to work internationally or need to improve your Business English vocabulary, and you are looking to fast track your career then you already know that you need to find a way to learn English that impacts your real life in a way that traditional methods of learning can't achieve.....

Classroom learning doesn't prepare you for how English is actually used in the real business world. There are some good English teachers out there, but they are English teachers and not business people, they cannot prepare you for how English is used in the real world. If you need a way of improving your Business AND English skills in a time efficient way with a proven learning system then we can help you.

HERE'S WHAT YOU

MIGHT NOT KNOW

If you want new opportunity you must speak English well.

  • Greater Earning Potential

People who speak more than one language earn, on average more than 15% more than someone with the same qualifications that only speaks one language. Furthermore, earning potential is highest amongst those that speak English as their 2nd language.
  • Travel

You are far more likely to have a career with international travel if you speak English fluently as a 2nd language.
  • Career Advancement

You are far more likely to receive job promotion; a better new job; and greater sales if you speak English well.
  • Success

Research by the World Economic Forum shows that CEO's that speak English as a 2nd language are less susceptible to bias, and make better decisions than native English speaking CEO's.
  • Prestige, Respect and Personal Advancement

Approximately 40% of global GDP is within countries that have English as an official language. Over 90% of all scientific research and nearly 60% of all internet content is in English. If you want to expand your mental horizons the YOU MUST speak English fluently.

Even though the reasons to learn better English are obvious, the path to doing it successfully is anything but easy.

LEARNING ENGLISH CAN BE DONE EASILY

Everything is easier when you know how

An efficient system

You work hard, you are busy and time is limited. The effort required to find a way to learn is exhausting. You desperately want to improve your English for work but nothing seems to work without hours and hours of tiring work. You wish it could be easier.

Not speaking English well enough is costing you.

You are worried that opportunities are passing you by. You could be losing sales; you can't get the international investment you need; you'll never get promotion or a new better job. Without better English you are stuck where you are. If only there were a way to learn English that could actually help you with your career.

English resources don't help me with my career

There are some good English teachers, but they are teachers and the business content they teach isn't real enough. If only there were English teachers and English courses made by English teachers that were also successful business people, had a high level of business education and understood how hard it is to actually do business in a foreign language

... well actually, there is one.

The 5 Myths that are Killing Your Progress and use of English at Work.

Myth #1 You need to speak with a native accent

Speaking neutrally is what counts

English has more different accents that just about every other language, what is correct pronunciation in the UK is incorrect in the USA or Australia (for example, try saying "data" or "layer" in a US accent in the UK and people will still understand you even though the word has a completely different pronunciation). The English language has 44 sounds and if you master how to make all these sounds then you can learn to speak in a neutral, understandable way. You may still have an accent but you will sound professional and educated and that is what really counts.

Myth #2 Passive listening will increase how well you understand spoken English

You need to understand meaning, not words!

When native speakers talk fast they often don't make all the sounds that you would hear in an English class. You need to actively listen to the spoken word at slow, then medium and then fast speed so that you can 'tune in' your ear to how sound and meaning changes. All our listening exercises do this with real business materials, you will notice how much more you understand very quickly!

Myth #3 Read at your own level and pace

Reading expands your vocabulary

Children learn to speak before they read, so surely reading isn't that important for speaking well right? Wrong! Vocabulary is expanded by reading, which is why children's vocabulary increases hugely when they start school and learn to read. You should always read one level above your own. For example, if you are lower intermediate you should read materials that are higher intermediate or advanced to expand your mind and introduce new vocabulary. Our reading lessons are designed to do just that in a real business setting, which is why we update them every few months to ensure that they are up-to-date. After all, there is no point in knowing about meeting etiquette if you don't know what fintech, freegan, or peopleware mean...

Myth #4 I don't need to specialise in Business English

Business vocabulary is changing fast, you need to specialise

Thanks to English being the language of technology it is changing faster than any language has ever changed in history due to digitalisation and connectivity, even native speakers are struggling to keep up! All of our learning materials are based on recent research from the leading business schools in the world.

Myth #5 Grammar is the same as in everyday English

Business language is different and complex

Most people know that traditionally UK business language is generally more formal than US business language. However, connectivity has changed this hugely in recent years, which means that the norms of how and when to use certain types of grammar construction have changed and continue to change rapidly. We have experience working as executives in the UK, USA, Australia, Ireland, India and Singapore so make sure that we teach a neutral form of English that will work wherever you are in the world.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret

The reality is that learning English for business effectively because using English at work effectively is not about just being good at English, otherwise all native speakers would be rich and successful right! But they're not.

Using English well in business is about having three things (A) GOOD ENGLISH; (B) BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE; and (C) AN AWARENESS OF THE CHANGES CAUSED BY TECHNOLOGY.

The problem with this is that even good English teachers are just English teachers. Good business gurus and coaches are not English teachers, and usually business gurus and English teachers are so busy doing their job they aren't always quick to adapt to the new vocabulary and cultural changes bought about by rapidly evolving technology and connectivity.

The truth is that a system that can teach English, Business and How to Adapt to Technology all at the same time doesn't exist.... until now.

With your permission I'd love to show you how you can fast track your English skills to become effective in a business setting.

"I started out as an Engineering & I.T. graduate with British Petroleum (BP) and worked my way up the corporate ladder to become a senior manager with BP, before becoming UK & Ireland Product Manager for Toshiba, and then running a sales division of US conglomerate United Technologies. I've served on the Boards of several UK investment companies and developed an interest in learning languages whilst dealing with overseas investors in the London real estate market. I have Masters Degrees in Finance and Business from the University of Oxford and the London Business School. In 2016 I qualified to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and embarked upon my quest to make the best Business English courses ever created. Frequently Asked Questions

Questions our top students asked before enrolling in the Oxford Business English Academy.

This is a common question, to which I normally answer "por supuesto, he aprendido español completamente en línea y tuve mis vacaciones en España el año pasado, no he usado nada de inglés durante dos semanas", which means "yes it is, I've learned Spanish completely online and had my holiday in Spain last year, I did not use a word of English for two weeks".

Not only that, since 2018 more people are learning languages online than offline. Furthermore, every single leading business school in the world is shifting to online learning. For example, postgraduate students at Oxford University's Saïd Business School use webinar lectures for revision and review.

Online learning is how we learn nowadays, tools are becoming better and better all the time and will continue to do so.

We've designed the course to be in 30-45 minute chunks so you can take in bite size chunks. Some of our students do one lesson per week, some two or more. You have life time access so can study when you want to at your own pace.

Firstly, we hold weekly Facebook Live sessions where you can speak directly with the course tutor.

Secondly, learning English is like becoming good at sport. If you wanted to be a boxer you'd spend time doing ducking, punching and moving drills before you went into the ring. Language is the same, if you want to be a good conversationalist you need to do speaking, listening, reading and writing training to make sure that you're fighting fit to go into the boxing ring of competitive business.

Even good English teachers aren't business people. Our courses are written by successful business owners with over 25 years experience in the board room of international companies, working with English teachers, business teachers and English authors to get the best of all worlds. This is the ONLY true Business English course on the market.

Actually it's easier. Science shows that our brains learn more easily when something is relevant. The business materials we use are relevant and we take care of how to make them English lessons. You just do the lessons, exercises and tests and we take care of the rest.

All you need to do is prove that you've done the work by taking and passing the first few lesson tests (you can have as many goes as you like and if you tried five times and failed we'd let you off the pass criteria if you wanted a refund), and advise us within 14 days and we'll give a full refund. Administrator@oxfordatlantic.com

You get the full course worth $750, plus bonus materials, including weekly online tutorial and Q&A sessions, worth a further $1,125. The total value of the course is $1,875, but as this is anew course we're selling at an introductory price of only $375
